After graduating, Perry Thomas went to work for John T. Fricke Construction Inc. where he learned the workings of the underground utility business. In 1978 he became an owner operator and formed Thomas Equipment Rentals and continued to provide backhoe services for John Fricke. In the ensuing years he obtained his Engineering Contractor A license, and in 1989, when John T. Fricke Construction Inc. closed its doors, Perry saw an opportunity to expand his business by joining forces with several of his former coworkers.

 After incorporation in 1993, the company became Perry C. Thomas Construction Inc. and remains in operation as such to this day.  After those 30+ successful years in business, Perry  decided he was ready to turn over the business responsibilities to someone else and ease himself into retirement.  As of 2022, Steve Lewis, who has worked for the company in various roles for the last 20 years, became company President along with Robert McDonnell, Jr. acting as Vice President.  Chris Mikity, who has been with the company from the beginning, is still one of the estimators.  Lisa Lewis, serves as the Office Manager.  With many of the original employees still with the company, Perry C. Thomas Construction Inc. boasts a knowledgeable and loyal staff, and promises growth and stability for new hires.
